U.S. Foreign Aid: How About We Secure OUR Oxygen Masks First??

   Call me crazy, but shouldn’t CA and the US put our money towards fixing our own economic crises: providing jobs, food and shelter to its tax-paying citizens before shelling out millions to aid every country hit by a natural disaster??  Trust me, we have PLENTY of starving people without homes, clothing, clean water, and… medical supplies right here in America.  Just throwin’ that out there-

   Hey, that’s great that we could use the extra money we have lying around the U.S. to help out the New Zealander’s after the earthquake.  I mean I can’t afford health insurance and was unemployed for the better part of a year, but totally- lets spend my tax dollars to help New Zealand.

   But look, I shouldn’t be selfish.  That’s just me.  The rest of our country is just fine and thank God we don’t have serious national debt or anything so we can afford to help out other countries when they have natural disasters and such.

   Ok, I know what you’re thinking.  It was a natural disaster, a bunch of people were harmed by it, lost their homes and loved ones. Ok. Touche. You’re right.  It’s the right thing to do to help out and deprive U.S. citizens of these resources by shipping them off to a country in need…

  Wait, what’s our unemployment rate?? How much is our national debt up to? How many people are unable to pay their mortgages and losing their homes?? Who can even afford health care these days? How many Americans are living off credit because they have no other option?

   But no, like I said. It is incumbant upon us as good humanitarians to provide aid to other countries that need it.  Not ours, but you know, other countries.  Because that’s what good nations do.  They help each other in times of catastrophe…

   I’m sorry, where was New Zealand after Katrina hit??  Just checking.
